In this article I will be writing about the ways in which stuttering can effect a person's life. As you may well read it can be a very damaging form of speech impediment to have as it can ruin your self-esteem and self-confidence.
These were some of the problems that I faced due to the fact that I had a stutter:
When I would be out with my family or friends I would struggle to order items such as the food or the drinks without stuttering.
When a guest would come to the house I would always keep quiet through the fear of stuttering if I were to speak.
During the time when I was at school the students in my class were always anxious for my presentation because they felt that I was some sort of joke and they seemed to enjoy it when I did stutter. This really hurt as you may well imagine.
I found it hard to attract girls/women because of this problem for obvious reasons.
Life was pretty tough back then, this is why I am so happy and proud that I am now able to speak fluently after winning the war with my stuttering demons thirteen years ago.
Nowadays there have been some huge improvements in the area of stuttering therapy. There are now one-to-one speech courses that are specially tailored in helping people who have a stutter to achieve fluency. They are referred to as "specialist courses" as they are run by people who have had and who have managed to overcome this form of speech impediment.
